Prees Heath Common Reserve

All the events listed below are open to members of the public (apart from the walks on 5th & 13th July) and are free of charge. Meet at the designated time on the access track opposite the Steel Heath turning off the A49. Wear appropriate footwear and clothing. Children must be accompanied by an adult. All events led by Stephen Lewis unless otherwise stated.
Wed 2nd July 2008 at 10.30am Ragwort pulling.  Essential work to manage this notifiable weed on the reserve.  Gloves Provided.
Sat 5th July 2008  Silver-studded Blue and Heathland Restoration Walk, for Butterfly Conservation West Midlands Branch members.
Wed 9th July 2008 at 10.30am Ragwort pulling.  Essential work to manage this notifiable weed on the reserve.  Gloves Provided.
Sun 13th July 2008 at 2pm Silver-studded Blue and Heathland Restoration Walk, for Butterfly Conservation North Wales Branch and the Wrexham & Dee Valley Branch of the North Wales Wildlife Trust members. 
Sat 19th July 2008 at 10.30am Ragwort pulling.  Essential work to manage this notifiable weed on the reserve.  Gloves Provided.
Wed 23rd July 2008 at 10.30am Ragwort pulling.  Essential work to manage this notifiable weed on the reserve.  Gloves Provided.
Sat 2nd Aug 2008 at 10.30am Ragwort pulling.  Essential work to manage this notifiable weed on the reserve.  Gloves Provided.
Sun 12th Oct 2008 at 2pm Fungi Foray, led by John Hughes of Shropshire Wildlife Trust.  The reserve is an excellent site for all sorts of mushrooms.

Work Parties
Everyone is welcome to come and lend a hand, and you can work at your own pace.  Come for a day or just a morning if you wish. No previous experience required – you will be shown how to use the tools safely. For all the work parties meet on the access track opposite the Steel Heath turning off the A49. All tools and gloves are provided. Bring a packed lunch and something to drink, and wear suitable clothing and footwear - boots are best. Please let Steven Lewis  know in advance if you intend to come, then he will know how many tools are needed. If you need a lift Steven Lewis may be able to help.
