SHROPSHIRE WILDLIFE TRUST BRANCH MEETINGS AND OTHER LOCAL EVENTS

Wednesday 10th March 2010 - Whitchurch Branch - To celebrate 25 years of the Whitchurch Branch.  Miranda Krestovnikoff takes you on a whistle-stop tour of our coast.  Miranda is one of the resident wildlife experts on the BBC’s popular The One Show and award winning Coast. She has also presented Thames Wildlife Superhighway and Country Lives for ITV. Other BBC series include History Mysteries and The Nature of Britain.  The evening will also see the launch of a guide to Greenfields Nature Reserve.   Meet at the Talbot Theatre, Whitchurch Leisure Centre, Heath Road.  Doors, exhibition and bar 6.45pm  Miranda's talk 7.30pm  Adults £3 Children £2.  The event is supported by the Shropshire Grassroots Fund.  

Thursday 1st April 2009 - Ellesmere Branch - Wolves in Shropshire by Helen Trotman after AGM  Presenting a story of these carnivores, once widespread in this country, later reviled as vermin and exterminated in Shropshire.  Meet at Ellesmere Town Hall, Willow Street at 8pm

Wednesday 7th April 2010 - Whitchurch Branch - 25 Wild Years!  What's new in North Shropshire? by Malcolm Monie.  Talk preceded by 25th Branch AGM   Meet at Whitchurch Infant & Nursery School.  Entrance off Station Road, Whitchurch 7.30pm

Thursday 6th May 2010 Ellesmere Branch - The Ecology of Badgers - Jim Ashley of the Shropshire Badger Group presents the latest scientific thinking on these mammals and their role in the countryside.  Badgers and Bovine Tuberculosis is a controversial subject, understanding more of the ecology of Badgers will help in deciding where they stand.   Meet at Ellesmere Town Hall, Willow Street at 8pm

  • Unless otherwise stated the Ellesmere Branch meetings will be on the first Thursday of each month in Ellesmere Town Hall. Meetings start at 8.00pm.  There is an entry fee of  £2.00 per person which helps to cover expenses.  You do not have to be a member to attend so bring a friend as well.
